(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is visiting Laos at the invitation of Lao deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad. 

On Tuesday, he met with Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, and assured him that Vietnam always treasures and gives the highest priority to consolidating and developing the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation. Praising bilateral collaboration in all fields, he affirmed Vietnam’s wish to continue working with Laos to improve cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and education. 

During talks with Somsavat Lengsavad, the two Deputy PMs spoke highly of the implementation of a master plan on increasing and upgrading the border marker system and a government-level agreement on addressing illegal migration and illegitimate marriage in shared border areas. They agreed to implement a one-stop-shop model at the Lao Bao-Densavan international border gate beginning January 1, 2015. They also discussed and agreed on preparations for the upcoming 37th meeting of the inter-governmental committee, which will focus on speeding up key transportation and energy projects, increasing the efficiency of Vietnam’s investment projects in Laos, and expanding cooperation in education and training, security, and defense, banking, telecommunications, and farm produce processing. 

Following their talks, the two Deputy Prime Ministers attended the inauguration of a new library center for the Laos Institute of Social Sciences in Vientiane.
