First meeting of Joint Vietnam – Thailand Committee on Trade Cooperation

(VOVworld) - The first meeting of the joint Vietnam – Thai Committee on Trade Cooperation got underway in Hanoi on Thursday. During their two-day meeting, the Committee will review bilateral economic and trade cooperation and discuss measures to strengthen ties within the framework of ASEAN cooperation, and other economic forums. Both will look for an agreement on targeting a 20% rise in two-way trade growth by 2015. Minister of Trade and Industry Vu Huy Hoang put forward several ways of facilitating the right conditions for developing relations in trade and investment between the two nations. Hoang says ‘Both countries will maintain their various research teams to exchange experiences in trade promotions, market management, and cross border trading. Thai businesses are being encouraged to invest in industry, and prioritize supporting auxiliary industries, particularly car parts and fittings and electronic components. Vietnam is also keen for Thailand to invest in oil and gas exploration as well as electricity generation and want to cooperate closer in processing, and agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products’.
