FM: RoK’s New Look South policy considers Vietnam key partner

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has reiterated Vietnam’s wish to work with the Republic of Korea to boost development cooperation, trade liberalization, regional connectivity, peace, security, and stability.

At his talk with the visiting RoK’s Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha in Hanoi on Friday, the two sides reviewed the achievements of the bilateral ties, especially since Vietnam and the Republic of Korea established their strategic cooperative partnership in 2009.

The leaders agreed to enhance cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and two countries, stabilize economic, trade, and investment ties, and foster mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The two sides also agreed to work closely in multilateral mechanisms, and applaud efforts to promote dialogues and peacefully settle the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s nuclear issue. They also voiced support for maintaining peace and security, and resolving conflicts in the East Sea peacefully in accordance with international law.

Foreign Minister Kang said the Republic of Korea is implementing its New Look-South policy, which considers Vietnam a key partner.
