(VOVworld) - A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday for the construction of the Green One UN House in Ha Noi. The special initiative aims to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the UN in Vietnam to obtain comprehensive and environmentally friendly results.

Vice Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh said that the initiative will bring together all UN agencies to collaborate for improved results and contributions to the local nation. The House prioritizes UN inter-agency collaboration and between the UN and Vietnam. The House will be a symbol of eco-friendly building which uses energy-saving materials and technology.

Viet Nam is one of eight pilot countries part of the Delivering as One initiative, which aims for UN system-wide coherence and greater efficiency and effectiveness at the country level. The construction is scheduled to be complete in 2014.
