Themed “Building a Green Future”, the event is co-organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The event will run through Wednesday.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said Vietnam is ready to work with Europe to promote green growth initiatives, and hopes to receive further support from the European Union in finance, technology, and human resource training to boost green growth and exchange experience in developing the carbon credit market.
“We recommend that European businesses consider increasing investment and establishing research centers in Vietnam in new areas of renewable energy, green hydrogen, green infrastructure, digital transformation, smart agriculture, and low-emission industry,” said Mr. Son.
According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Vietnam's export turnover to the EU reached more than 38 billion USD over 9 months of this year, up 17% against last year.
As the EU is setting increasingly high requirements and standards on the environment and sustainable development, Vietnamese and European enterprises need to continue to expand economic and trade investment cooperation, technology transfer towards green growth, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and meet new standards set by the EU and others.
