Vietnam is Matterella’s first destination in Asia, showing that the Italian government considers Vietnam its leading strategic partner in Asia since the two countries signed a joint statement on establishing a strategic partnership in January, 2013.

During the visit, both sides will focus on boosting economic and education cooperation. President Mattarella will sign the Vietnam-Italy action plan. He will then attend an economic forum in Ho Chi Minh city and sign four cooperative agreements, three of which are between Italy’s Luiss University and three Vietnamese universities.
