(VOVworld) - Major Vietnamese newspapers gave wide coverage to Karl Marx, a noted scholar and great proletarian, on the occasion of his 196^th birth anniversary on May 5.  The People’s newspaper posted Marx’s portrait on its front page over a quote by former President Ho Chi Minh praising Leninism and Marxism. The People’s Army newspaper ran an article entitled: “Karl Marx’s thought enlightens our national defense” by Dr Nguyen Manh Huong of the Ministry of Defense’s Institute for Military Social Sciences and Humanities. The article says Marx, together with Friedrich Engels, laid the foundation for the proletarian doctrines of war and armies. The ideas of Marx and Engels on violence, war, armies, and the protection of revolutionary outcomes remain of great importance today.
