Khmer Festival highlights Vietnam's cultural identity

The 5th Khmer ethnic minority Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, is of great importance to Khmer ethnic people’s spiritual life. A wide range of activities took place during the four-day festival including folk games, such as tug of war, stick pushing and boat racing, and a fashion show featuring the traditional costumes of Vietnam and its 54 ethnic minority groups. Representative of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Van Tan, spoke highly of the organization of the event: “The festival with its performers and festival goers being Khmer ethnic people plays an important role in preserving the Khmer ethnic culture and traditions. Through this festival Khmer’s unique culture has been well promoted.”
