The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the appointment at a ceremony on Thursday.
Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet said Vietnam considers the RoK one of key source markets of tourism.
In the 2017-20 term, ambassador Lee helped set up a representative office of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in the RoK and built a website in Korean language promoting Vietnam’s tourism.
He also worked to connect Vietnamese and RoK localities to organise activities introducing Vietnam’s images during major festivals in the RoK.
Lee Chang-kun is a 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To and the 26th generation descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong, who immigrated to the RoK in the 13th century.
