Li Qiang’s trip marks first Vietnam visit by a Chinese Premier in 11 years

(VOVWORLD) -Chinese Premier Li Qiang will pay an official visit to Vietnam from Saturday to Monday at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

In an interview with the Vietnamese press in Beijing, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai said this will be the first visit to Vietnam in 11 years by a Chinese Premier and the first visit to Vietnam by Li as the Premier of China.

The visit demonstrates the importance that the Chinese Party and State, and Premier Li personally, attach to the Vietnam-China relationship, he said.

According to Ambassador Mai, during the visit, Li will meet with General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. They will discuss measures to implement the shared perceptions of the top leaders of the two Parties and countries and further consolidate political trust.

PM Chinh and Premier Li will discuss ways to expand and improve the effectiveness of cooperation to achieve practical results and benefit the two peoples.
