(VOVworld) – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made a courtesy visit to Japanese Emperor Akihito on Thursday as part of his official visit to Japan. Hung informed the Emperor the outcomes of his talks with President of Japan's House of Councillors Hirata Kenji.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to accelerate parliamentary exchanges and cooperation, contributing to improve the efficiency of the bilateral strategic partnership in all fields. Chairman Hung appreciated Japan for providing a large amount of ODA for Vietnam. He repeated that Vietnam will continue to tighten monitoring and supervising the implementation of ODA to ensure the highest result.

Emperor Akihito expresses his hope that the two countries work together to successfully organize the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Year to celebrate the 40^th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Also on Thursday, NA Chairman Hung met with Japanese former Prime Minister Hatoyama and received leaders of the Communist Party of Japan.
