(VNA/VOVworld) - US General John Allen, who led the NATO campaign in Afghanistan, will take over as NATO supreme commander, US Defense Minister Leon Panetta announced yesterday following the 2-day NATO Defense Ministers Meeting in Brussels.

At the meeting, defense ministers agreed on a broad political framework for training Afghan security forces when the NATO mission in Afghanistan ends in 2014.
