(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc convened the first session of the new government on Tuesday.

He said discussions will focus on droughts in the central highlands, saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta, and removing obstacles to business development. Prime Minister Phuc said: “The Vietnamese government is determined to help businesses and ensure that no one suffers from hunger or diseases and national sovereignty is ensured. We will continue to fight corruption. The government must remove all institutional barriers and fight bureaucracy.”

Prime Minister Phuc asked all cabinet members to work with a high sense of responsibility and a high determination to steer Vietnam out of current difficulties. He asked ministries, sectors, and localities to submit to the government issues concerning the situation in the East Sea; adjustments to ODA regulations, public investment and fiscal policies; bad debt; bank safety; improving the business and investment environment; tightening public property management and use; preventing waste; establishing a national population database and an e-government; and developing a government reform project for the 2016-2020 period.
