Ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress opens in Hanoi
(VOVworld) – The ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress opened in Hanoi on Monday with a theme of promoting solidarity, creativity and emulation for national construction and defense. The Congress brings together 1,800 exemplary individuals and representatives from outstanding units in patriotic emulation campaigns in all sectors and fields during the past five years since the previous congress. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, head of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, said:
"This is a significant political event of the Party, people, and army to honor role models in the national patriotic emulation movements. It is also of great importance in promoting the concerted strength of the nation to realize socio-economic and cultural, environmental, defense-security, diplomacy, and international integration targets."

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, First Vice Chair of the Central Council for Emulation and Rewards said positive changes in form and content have been made to emulation campaigns, with more focus on pragmatic goals and attracting a wider response from Party organizations, authorities at all levels, and people in all walks of life. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong addressed the congress: "Future emulation activities should focus on encouraging people to realize the Party and State’s guidelines and policies. Each Party member should take the lead in any emulation campaign. I call for further reforms of forms and content of such campaigns to ensure the interests of workers, collectives, localities, and society."
