The test aimed to confirm the accuracy of rocket launcher shells at a range of 67 kilometers, and evaluate the reliability of the automatic firing system. The KCNA said the test was carried out on Tuesday but did not reveal the exact location.

In February, North Korea said it had developed "controllable" 240mm rocket launcher shells, a move that could boost its weapons range and precision.

In May, North Korea said it will deploy the weapon to Korean People's Army units between 2024 and 2026.
