(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Embassy in France held a New Year meeting with Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Paris yesterday. Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung said delegates discussed measures to improve the effectiveness of material and spiritual contributions by Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to the nation.

Dung added that this was an opportunity to exchange ideas and aspirations about Vietnam’s socio-economic development. "Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals have contributed their professional and managerial knowledge as well as their reputation and influence in the local countries to the network of scientific and technological organizations and training centers. The Vietnamese Party, State and people appreciate the contributions of Overseas Vietnamese, including supportive intellectuals in France, to national construction and development."

The meeting attendees put forward their ideas on how to promote Overseas Vietnamese contributions to the nation, the development of Vietnamese community in France, and the France – Vietnam relations.
