(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received representatives of the Vietnam Episcopal Council (VEC), headed by President Bishop Nguyen Van Nhon, in Hanoi on Friday. PM Dung praised the Catholic community for their contributions to the country’s achievements and hailed the religious activities, including those of Catholic followers, in line with the law and for national development. The PM reiterated Vietnam’s policy of freedom of religion and belief, which aims to meet the legitimate rights and interests of religious devotees. The PM said he expected archbishops, priests, clergymen and Catholic followers to join hands in national development and leading good deeds practices. President of Vietnam Episcopal Council  Nguyen Van Nhon thanked for the Party and State's care for the council and expressed aspiration of Catholic followers to continue to contribute in building the country’s prosperity.
