Prime Minister leaves for official visit to Japan

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left on Thursday for a four-day official visit to Japan at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The visit takes place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties and aims to strengthen the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership, especially cooperation in economics, investment, development assistance, and bilateral coordination at regional and international forums.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Dung will attend a conference to mark 40 years of ASEAN-Japan dialogue relations and the 5th Mekong-Japan summit in Tokyo. Japan is a major partner supporting the building of an ASEAN community, narrowing the development gap, and prioritizing for cooperation with the Greater Mekong Sub-region, Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam, and the East-West Economic Corridor. At the 5th Mekong–Japan summit, Vietnam is expected to make a practical contribution to boosting the efficiency of the Mekong-Japan cooperation mechanism.
