(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday received WB Vice President and Special Envoy for climate change Rachel Kyte who is visiting Vietnam and attending a high-level talks with the Vietnam’s National Committee for Climate Change.

The Prime Minister said Vietnam is facing two big environmental challenges which seriously affect Vietnam’s sustainable development. Vietnam is one of the countries that are most affected by climate change and sea level rise, especially the Mekong River Delta. Vietnam heavily depends on the outside water source, particularly the Mekong river. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the World Bank would provide Vietnam with policy and technical consultation and financial resources to effectively respond to climate change and sea level rise and sustainably use of the Mekong river water. He stressed that Vietnam commits to work with the WB and global effort to resolve these common challenges.

Rachal Kyte said the WB will continue to assist Vietnam technically and financially and will coordinate global effort to help Vietnam cope with climate change and sea level rise.
