(VOVworld) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said Suday he has ruled out sending Russian troops for ground operations in war-torn Syria. In an interview with the Rossiya-1 TV channel, Putin said Russia is not going to do the ground operations and the Syrian authorities are well aware of that. Putin’s statement came while Russia was carrying out air strikes on IS in Syria. He rejected reports by CNN that Russia is likely to deploy troops and weapons for ground operations in Syria. Putin said Russia does not want to get involved in an inter-religious war in Syria.
