Sea worshipping ceremony prays for big catches
(VOVWORLD) -Thousands of people flocked to My Long town in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh to attend the annual sea worshipping ritual which opened on Saturday.
The 3-day festival with a wide range of cultural, art and sporting activities has been recognized as a national intangible heritage.
“The ritual prays for favorable weather and bumper catches. Offshore fishing is an effective way to safeguard our sea and islands,” said Phan Van Dinh, a Tra Vinh resident.
The My Long sea worshipping ritual was first organized in 1920.
