(VOVworld) - The 11th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information, AMRI-11, opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

Under the theme "Media: Connecting Peoples and Bridging Cultures towards One ASEAN Community", the Ministers discussed the role of new media forms, especially social media as an important tool for interaction within the bloc.  They agreed that social media is an effective channel to disseminate information about the bloc, connect people, and encourage integration. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communication, said communication has helped ASEAN members enhance unity, share difficulties, and cooperate for regional and world peace and prosperity.
