South Korea summons Chinese official over sinking of Coast Guard boat

(Vovworld) - According to Yonhap Agency, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday summoned an official of the Chinese Embassy in Seoul to lodge a formal complaint about a Chinese fishing boat, which South Korea believes intentionally collided with and sank a Coast Guard vessel last week (7th, October).

Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said in a parliamentary session that South Korea demands that China investigate, arrest, and punish those responsible, and that South Korea will consider further measures to be taken by the Coast Guard and the Foreign Ministry after seeing how China responds. 

South Korean political parties on Thursday criticized China for making no apology, adding that Beijing’s attitude could affect relations between the two countries. They insisted that China should have strict measures against illegal fishing boats in South Korea’s waters.
