The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry confirmed the information. The six are in good health and are in a safe place with a team from the United Nations (World) Food Program. The Bulgarian government paid no ransom for the release.
The rebels of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) captured the 6 aid workers after their helicopter had to make an emergency landing on January 26 in a remote area of Sudan's South Kordofan state, bordering South Sudan.
