Towards the goal of achieving an AIDS-free generation
The ongoing 19th International AIDS Conference in Washington has made a commitment to end mortality rate of HIV-infected mothers and children and improve their health.
The participating countries also committed to promoting the strategy to prevent HIV/AIDS in pregnant women and unexpected pregnancy to reduce newly infected cases in children by 2015. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton vowed Monday that the United States will step up the fight against HIV, insisting it was working towards the goal of achieving an AIDS-free generation. Ms. Clinton also unveiled more than $150 million in new funding to battle the pandemic. The UN also set a target of zero new HIV infection by 2015.
