Traditional spring festivals kick off across Vietnam
(VOVWorld) Spring festivals are taking place across VN. A ceremony to worship Au Co mother of the Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnam Nation was held in the northern province of Phu Tho yesterday. The Vieng market festival met in Nam Dinh province the same day. The most spiritual moment arrives on the night of the 7th and 8th when heaven-earth, Yin-Yang exchange. Market goers believe that if they are in the market at this time, they will be lucky for the whole year. Nguyen Thi Thom from Ninh Binh province said: "I want to buy a plough and a shovel hoping to earn a favorable crop. We are farmers, so we buy farm tools in the hope that our work will run smoothly".

The Huyen Tran Temple Festival commemorating King Tran Nhan Tong and Princess Huyen Tran has opened in Thua Thien-Hue province. The festival kicks off a series of cultural and sporting events to promote Hue Festival 2012. The two-day event features folk games, calligraphy, art performances, culinary festivals, and displays of traditional handicrafts. King Tran Nhan Tong was the first King of the Tran dynasty who abdicated his throne at the age of 35 and spent the rest of his life practicing Buddhism. Princess Huyen Tran was a daughter of King Tran Nhan Tong.
Muong ethnic minority people in Cam Luong commune, Thanh Hoa province have held a festival to worship the Fish God to pray for favorable weather and bumper crop. Meanwhile, in the northern province of Yen Bai, local people held the Dong Cuong temple festival, which features a wide range of cultural and sports events. In Quy Chau district of Nghe An central province, local people joined the “Going to the field” festival hoping to have a prosperous year.
