Speaking at a joint press conference after the bilateral meeting, Trump said he has a great relationship with Merkel and that they discussed military expenditure, trade, and a new gas pipeline planned from Russia to Germany.

Merkel said Germany and the US are good partners and she hopes to continue to cooperate with the US in the future, adding that she had discussed the immigrant issue and the future of bilateral trade relations with President Trump.
