Obama noted that the funding he asked for is a response to last week's decision by a Missouri grand jury not to indict police officer Darren Wilson, who fatally shot Michael Brown, an unarmed African-American youth, in the town of Ferguson. 75 million dollars will be used to purchase 50,000 body cameras to record police officer’s on-the-job performance. Obama asked Congress on Monday to approve the motion, not as emergency funding, but as an addition to his budget request for fiscal 2015.
