The 3-day conference, which will begin Thursday in Ho Chi Minh City, will focus on the effects of climate change, which Vietnam has a considerable interest in. Ambassador Dung said the conference will connect regional parliaments to develop strategies to deal with climate change, adding that the Permanent Mission of Vietnam will continue to fulfill its role as a bridge between the IPU and the Vietnamese National Assembly.

Secretary General Martin Chungong expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s recent development, calling Vietnam's successful development model a valuable inspiration to other developing countries.

Initiated by the Vietnamese National Assembly, the upcoming conference will discuss the role of different stakeholders in responding to climate change and ways national parliaments can contribute through legislation, budgeting, and monitoring to national efforts to meet international commitments, and address gender equality, healthcare, and resource mobilization.
