Vietnam proposes ocean governance solutions at East Asian Seas Congress
(VOVworld) – Delegates to the 5
th East Asian Seas Congress have discussed a decade of partnership in sustainable development in the East Asian seas.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Chu Pham Ngoc Hien spoke about the governance of oceans and coastal areas and coordiation mechanisms in East Asia as well as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia.
He said: “It is necessary to establish a national committee, whose chair should be the government leader, to coordinate efforts. Governance should guarantee the involvement and responsibilities of all parties concerned, particularly the local communities.”
