(VOVworld)-Vietnam has protested against China’s State Oceanic Administration’s master plan on national islands protection which covers Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Archipelagoes. Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi has responded to reporters question on the Chinese agency’s last Thursday announcement on the masterplan, which divides the East Sea into 7 areas including Vietnam’s Truong Sa and Hoang Sa. Nghi reiterated Veitnam’s undisputable national sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa as well as its territorial integrity in the special economic zone and continental shelf in line with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982. The Chinese State Oceanic Administration’s announcement of the masterplan implementation was a gross violation of Vietnam’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity over the two archipelagoes. It violated the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and went against the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea. The spokesman said that China must nullify immediately the plan, seriously respect the DOC and refrain from any activities which complicate the situation in the East Sea.
