Vietnam-Denmark elevate relations to comprehensive partnership

(VOVworld) -  President Truong Tan Sang held talks with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt on Thursday. The two leaders agreed to raise the Vietnam-Denmark strategic partnership in some areas in to a comprehensive partnership.

The comprehensive partnership will lay a foundation to boost bilateral ties in politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, climate, energy, environment, green growth, education, culture, and people’s exchange. The two leaders expressed their delight to positive developments in bilateral economic and trade ties and pledged to further tap the two countries’ potential. President Sang stressed that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for Danish businesses to invest in Vietnam on sectors of mutual benefits such as wind power, marine transport, and food processing.

The Danish Prime Minister reiterated determination to successfully implement the Market Growth Strategy in which Vietnam is one of the top 10 potential markets in the world selected by Denmark and raise two way trade to 1 billion USD in the future.

President Sang asked Denmark to support Vietnam in to improve its comprehensive relations with the EU, lobby the EU to approve the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, and back Vietnam’s free trade agreement negotiation with the EU.

After the talks, the Vietnamese President and Danish Prime Minister attended a press conference and witnessed the signing of the joint-statement on the Vietnam-Denmark comprehensive partnership, a framework agreement on Denmark’s incentive credit for Vietnam, and some cooperative agreements on education-training, wind power, sustainable aquaculture, and water management.
