According to the hospital, the 41-year-old male patient suffered from heart and liver failure, and had to be intubated and put on extracorporeal circulation. But these methods can only prolong the patient's life by days. The only way to save the patient is to transplant both the heart and liver.

The transplanted organs were taken from a brain-dead donor in Nghe An province.

Last Tuesday, the transplantation was performed successfully after 8 hours by doctors from different departments.

On Saturday afternoon, the patient was extubated and his heart and liver gradually recovered to the normal state.
