(VOVWORLD) -A special program "Vietnamese New Year – Street Festival 2024" opened on Sunday at Kim Ngan communal house with multiple unique rituals of Hanoi's Old Quarter.

The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter held simulations of traditional rituals, including procession of offerings at the communal house’s gate, the ceremony to inform the tutelary god and worship the craft ancestors, and Neu Tree setting ceremony.
Other activities included folk performances, Then singing, Xoan singing, and Ca Tru singing.
Performing at the festival, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Traditional Folk Art Club of Hai Phong city, said, “My students and I participate in Vietnamese Tet every year. As the Lunar New Year festival nears, we, teachers and students, are eager to gather together, to join hands in preserving the beauty of traditional culture. You will have a greater responsibility in conserving and later conveying the passion and love for Vietnamese culture.”
Running until February 28, 2024, the program will involve the public in attractive experiences during traditional Tet holidays, such as “Old House Style” space in the Northern Delta, traditional music performance at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center, and wrapping and boiling banh chung (square sticky rice cakes).
