(VOVWORLD) - A hydroponic vegetable growing model by a private firm in Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city, has been operating for only a year, but has already proven to be effective. The Minh Hoa Investment and Development joint stock company not only provides safe vegetables but also teaches people how to start up a business.

Lam Viet Hoa, Director of Minh Hoa Company, nurtured a start-up dream for more than 7 years and finally came to the idea of growing clean vegetables using advanced techniques. Her company now grows vegetables on an area of over 3,000 square meters equipped with modern sprinkler irrigation and covered with plastic netting to keep out insects. Hoa says her farm is open to visitors who can come, pick vegetables and sample them in the garden.
“Life without a dream is meaningless. I had thought of producing safe food products for many years, and my dream came true. Our product quality is closely monitored,” she noted.
Hoa’s hydroponic vegetable farm attracts students who come to learn more about start-ups and vegetable growing. Recently, 400 eleventh graders from local high schools visited the farm as part of a girls’ education support program launched by the non-profit organization Room to Read. Thach Thi Thu Trang, a student from Le Thanh Mung high school in Vinh Long province, said: “Safe food is an important issue of modern life. I hope to learn about organic vegetable growing and human health”.

Ms. Hoa says she will continue to seek better ways to meet the growing consumer demand for fresh, safe vegetables.
“Ups and downs in my business career didn’t hold me back. My success is attributed to the lessons I learned from earlier failures. The community’s welfare should come first,” she stressed.
