Le Phi Phi was born in Hanoi in a family with a musical background. After graduating from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, he became the permanent conductor of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra from 1993 to 2000.

“I started conducting in concerts when I was a third year student. The time working at the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra had considerably enriched my music knowledge and skills,” Phi recalled.

Phi has toured in Macedonia, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Albania and Bulgaria. He has also performed with Radio-Television Belgrade Symphony Orchestra in Serbia, Bulgaria’s Vidin Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Nis in Serbia, the Macedonian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Macedonian Ballet Theatre.

Since 1995, Phi has returned home regularly to join hands and help organize concerts with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Vietnam National Opera Ballet, and Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra. He has also helped connect overseas Vietnamese artists with local art show organizers.

Writer Tran Thi Truong said when conducting a show, Phi’s posture and gestures inspire the audience.

“I am impressed by the facial expression, the eyes and gestures when the conductor uses his baton to conduct the orchestra. He blows his soul to the concert. I’m so moved, ” said Truong.

Pham Anh Tuan, the editor in chief of Vietnamnet online newspaper, said conductor Le Phi Phi is known to be the soul of the “Dieu con mai” concert series.

“Le Phi Phi can be comparable to conductors in foreign countries. We are so proud of him,” said Tuan.
