(VOVWORLD) - The campaign of studying and following the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh has been actively responded to by Xo Dang ethnic people in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. Village chief A Bo of Dak Long commune is a role model in this drive.

In late August, 21 Kon Tum people returning home from pandemic-affected areas in southern Vietnam tested positive for coronavirus. To reduce the risk of the pandemic spreading in the community, village chief A Bo visited local households and talked to them about disinfecting their environment, wearing face masks, and making health declarations when returning from a pandemic-hit area.
A Bo said having a close relationship with people makes communication more effective, “I go house to house to talk about ways to develop the household economy, reinforce solidarity, and foster education. I encourage the people to lead a cultural lifestyle and develop farming and husbandry”.
At the age of 70, A Bo is still very active in social work. Having worked as a teacher and a school administrator, he is able to explain Party guidelines and State policies in a persuasive manner. The Tua Tem village Party cell led by A Bo leads the local implementation of the Politburo’s Directive 5 on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle.
“All Party members of Tua Tem village have responded to the Directive. The local Party cell has received a certificate of merit for their excellent performance,” said Tran Ngoc Truc, Secretary of Dak Long commune’s Party Committee.

A Bo has made a significant contribution to the development of his village. The poverty rate in Dak Long commune has dropped from 73% to 37% over the last 7 years.
A Bo has shared his experience and taught local people how to grow coffee and rubber, and prevent diseases in animal husbandry. A Su, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Dak Long commune branch, said A Bo is the leader in mobilizing people and promoting unity in the village.
“A Bo is enthusiastic in communicating Party guidelines and State policies to the community. He’s a role model in family life and in social work, and is a good communicator,” said A Su.
And thanks to A Bo’s communication effort, the cultural values of the Xo Dang people are being preserved.
