(VOVWORLD) - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has announced its list of 20 nominees for the final round of Vietnamese Outstanding Young Face Award 2023. The list includes 5 students active in academics and social activities. Dang Cat Tien, a 9th grader from Thai Nguyen secondary school in the central province of Khanh Hoa, is the youngest to be nominated.

As the President of the first “Children’s National Assembly” Mock Session in Hanoi last September, Dang Cat Tien made a deep impression for her confidence. Tien had surpassed more than 260 other children in the interview round to become the President of such an important event.
“When being elected to lead the first-ever ‘Children’s National Assembly’ Mock Session, I felt that I had a great responsibility. I always told myself that I had to be well-prepared, do research on legal documents as well as study the real situations, and contribute ideas and proposals to meet the needs and aspirations of the young people,” said Tien.
Tien said participating in such an outstanding event of Vietnam’s National Assembly in 2023 was her pride and the motivation for her study.
“It serves as a great source of encouragement for me to improve myself and gain more experience on the road to the National Assembly building in the future. I hope that I will be here as a National Assembly deputy or as a member of a key National Assembly committee.”

With her accumulated experience, Cat Tien successfully led the session, according to Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Communist Youth Union.
“The children’s ideas delivered at the session reflect the needs and aspiration of their peers and show their passion and dreams to do more for the country,” said Trang.
This is not Cat Tien’s first success in leadership. She was winner of the 2021 National Junior Historian Competition and the runner-up of the National Reading Culture Ambassador Contest. She also received the Title of “Knight of a Thousand Good Deeds” at the provincial level in 2023.
In addition to studying in class, Tien also spent time from a young age learning and researching social issues, practicing soft skills and foreign language skills, and participating in activities at school and local movements.
Tien said learning and practicing everyday is the key to success.
“To be successful, it is essential to find your strengths and weaknesses, and know your ability well to work and improve your values. Only then will we be confident in our thoughts and actions to achieve the goals we have chosen. Continuous learning and practicing to improve yourself at the present time is the way to confirm yourself in the future,” said Tien.
