Kind-hearted monk helps school children

(VOVWORLD) - For Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan, Head of Duc Bon Alan Nha pagoda in Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province, charity work and helping the poor are the task of a monk. He encourages Buddhist followers to help the many local disadvantaged children.

Mr. Le Van Tang and his family in Bu Dang district are happy to have received a new house thanks to support from Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan and the Buddhist followers of Duc Bon Alan Nha pagoda. Tang’s life is difficult. He has no land for cultivation and his young child has a fatal disease.
“I’m so happy to have a new house. We used to live in a diplapilated house,” Tang said.
Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan and the Buddhist followers also helped to build two new well-equipped classrooms worth 17,000 USD for Kim Dong primary school.
“Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan really cares about us. The new classrooms will make things easier for both teachers and students,” said Ms. Pham Thi Loan, the principal of the school.
Over the years, Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan has inspired Buddhist followers to help poor children. He said: “I consider helping other people part of my responsibility to society”.
Thanks to the help of Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan and other Buddhist followers, more than 100 charity houses have been donated to disavantaged people in remote areas.
“Local authorities value Most Venerable Thich Dong Tan’s efforts to mobilize resources to help poor people. He has particular empathy for disadvantaged children,” said Mr. Le Thanh Hai, a Bu Dang district official.
