(VOVWORLD) - 80 years ago, between 1941 and 1945, President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in Pac Bo in the northern province of Cao Bang while he led the resistance war against French colonialism. He was taken care of by local people, including Ms. Hoang Thi Khin. Ms. Khin who served meals to President Ho Chi Minh during that period has passed away at the age of 103.

Ms. Hoang Thi Khin was born in 1920 in Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. During the time President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in Pac Bo, Khin and her sister Hoang Thi Hoa served meals to President Ho Chi Minh and other revolutionists.
At the age of 100, Ms. Khin was still able to sing revolutionary songs in the Nung ethnic language and told stories about President Ho Chi Minh.
Khin recalled that in 1941, she and her sister first met President Ho Chi Minh. He talked to them, asked them about the daily life of the locals and encouraged the locals to stay united to fight for national independence. Ms. Khin once said, “During that time, President Ho Chi Minh lived in a tent in Khuoi Nam. I cooked and served meals to President Ho Chi Minh and other revolutionary soldiers. Many other local people also joined the revolution.”
Ms. Khin joined the resistance war against French colonialism and was in charge of sending letters and documents for revolutionaries. In 1961, Ms. Khin was the head of the Women’s Union of her village and head of an inter-commune production cooperative in Truong Hà commune.
Ms. Khin always bore in mind the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh of trying one’s best, not abandoning barren land, not following hostile forces, and being united to develop the homeland.
“My mother said local people in the area were determined to follow the Communist Party and President Ho Chi Minh. It was a great honor for Pac Bo to be the second homeland of President Ho Chi Minh,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Phan who is Ms. Khin’s daughter-in-law.
In 1961, Ms. Khin welcomed President Ho Chi Minh when he returned to Pac Bo. Ms. Khin was was conferred the Anti-American Resistance War Medal, second class.
“Ms. Khin is considered a historical witness and is a role model for younger generations in terms of following President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching to contribute to developing the homeland. Ms. Khin always paid special attention to the local younger generations,” said Mr. Nong Thanh Bang, head of Pac Bo village, in Truong Ha commune.
