The program, co‑organized by the Voice of Vietnam, the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission, the General Politics Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Khanh Hoa province, has gathered 1,500 performers who staff the navy, border, and coast guard forces as well as the fishermen and students in Khanh Hoa province.

The art program “Strong and Rich from the National Sea” aims to implement the Party Resolution on the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2023, with a vision to 2045.

Under the resolution the purely marine economic sectors will contribute 10% to the national GDP and 28 coastal cities and provinces will contribute 65 to 70% of the national GDP.

Head of the VOV1 News and Current Affairs Channel, Nguyen Vu Duy, who is also Deputy Chief of the organizing board, said: “This program highlights the sea conscience in each Vietnamese person and spreads that conscience, which has been fostered throughout generations and is reflected in historical stories and the development of the marine economic sector. This will be a meaningful program to disseminate information about sea and island work.”

The 90-minute program will feature three themes: “Sea Consciousness”, “Vietnam to Become Rich from the Sea”, and “Vietnam to Become Strong from the Sea”.

The segment “Sea Consciousness” highlights the Vietnamese people’s love for the sea through art programs, photos, reality reports, and stories about fishermen, border guards, naval soldiers, and engineers.

The segment “Vietnam to Become Rich from the Sea” gives an overview of Vietnam’s marine economy, featuring stories about green and sustainable marine economic development, green energy transfer, and achievements of green tourism development. It also features the process of developing the Vietnam People’s Navy and the fishermen who serve as an important force to defend Vietnam’s sovereignty.

The closing segment of the art program “Strong and Rich from the National Sea” will leave a deep impression on the audience with the performance of “Generations Conquering the Sea” where different generations of soldiers meet.

The program closes with magnificent music, lighting and images of the national flags on the fishing boats as well as the flag-saluting ceremonies on DK1 platforms. Nguyen Minh Quy plays the trumpet for the program: “I feel honor and proud to perform in programs featuring the national sea, islands and borders. I’m very excited about the program, which energizes me. It’s very interesting.”

5 years after the Party Resolution on the Strategy on sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2023, with a vision to 2045 was implemented, the marine economy has contributed 50 percent to national GDP, mainly in oil exploitation, seafood, and shipping.

The province is working on a project to build a National Research Center on Ocean Technology for its long-term vision.”

The Party Resolution 36 on “Strategy on Vietnam’s marine economic development until 2030 and Vision to 2045” opens new directions for Vietnam to tap its potential and advantages to develop the marine economy in order to make Vietnam a strong marine country with a strategic vision, sea-oriented mindset, and a strong marine economy.
