(VOVworld) -  The 2015 Autumn Book Festival, featuring around 5000 book titles opened at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi on Thursday. Books on displayed are published by the Women Publishing House, Kim Dong Publishing House, and the Youth Publishing House.

Since 2013, Hanoi’s Autumn Book Festival has become a popular venue for book lovers. Themed “Building family bookcases”, this year’s festival aims to promote the message “books for all” and encourage people to build “Family libraries” and “Family bookcases”. Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong is deputy director of the Women Publishing House: "We’ve acknowledged an increasing demand among readers who visit the festival to find books they love and to collect more valuable books for their families’ bookcases. They can buy good books at reasonable prices for their loved ones or other disadvantaged people. That’s why we chose the theme “building family bookcases” for this year’s festival which reflects the increasing social interest in reading."  

Thousands of books in numerous genres, from history, science, economics, to culinary, and children, can be found at the festival. Pham The Khang is Chairman of Vietnam Library Association: "This year’s theme – Books for all reflects the increasing public interest in reading. The event aims to offer an opportunity for publishers to introduce their new books directly to readers as well as inspire enthusiasm for reading among younger generations."

The festival features more than 20,000 books published by prominent publishers. Nguyen Dinh Xuan from Hanoi’s Hoang Hoa Tham Street is a festival goer: "I’ve found numerous books for myself and for my children as well. I hope more book festivals like this will be held as this is a great opportunity for book lovers to add more valuable books to their family bookcases."

Visitors will receive big promotions up to 50% off on some book titles, as well as books at reduced prices of VND5,000-VND10,000 per book at one-price book booths. A wide variety of gifts, such as pens, bookmarks and handbags will be presented to readers who buy books at the festival. Hoang Bao Tran is a 8th grader of Hanoi’s Trung Vuong school: "I choose to buy books published by Kim Dong Publishing House. I love literature books and short stories by Nguyen Nhat Anh, who is famous among teenager readers. For me, books are very important as they help enrich our knowledge. I have my own bookcase at home."

Numerous programs introducing new books, forums and seminars on topics related to books as well as talks with famous authors and artists will also be held during the festival, which are expected to attract a large number of book lovers. Small children can take part in vibrant activities including painting classes, fun mini games and Halloween themed mini games.
