This year’s event saw the attendance of many luminaries from Vietnam’s literary circle, including musician and poet Vu Mao, the Honory President of Vietnam’s poetry Club, and poet Huu Thinh, Chairman of the National Committee of the Vietnam Association of Literature and Arts. Participating delegations offered the audience 37 performances focusing on the topic “50 years implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament”. Poet Hoai Nguyen, Head of the festival’s jury, said: "We welcome entries of poems in all kinds and genres. Each city and province can send 2 entries, while the host Hanoi can send 4. Some performances are poetry recitations while others are poems arranged into different kinds of traditional media and folk songs. The organizing board offered 15 A prizes, 15 B prizes and 10 C prizes, all worth from 50 to 70 USD each."

Contestants numbered both amateur and professional poets, musicians, writers, journalists, and lawyers. Tran Van Ngo of Ninh Binh province’s Nho Quan Poetry Club told VOV: "Nho Quan district’s Poetry Club has organized many exchange activities with poetry clubs nationwide. As our hometown is famous for our tradition of cheo singing, we brought to this year’s festival a poem named “How beautiful Ninh Binh province is”, arranged as  a traditional song. Our performance involves 12 members of our club who sing and dance for the show. Such performances help us relax after work, while improving our knowledge about the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and our people."

Established in 2006, Vietnam’s Poetry Club has around 13,000 members nationwide. Pham Quang Nhuan, Deputy Chairman of Vietnam’s Poetry Club and Head of Phu Tho province’s poetry club, said: "The contest has received a great number of entries and the participation of poets  nationwide, including many young ones. They consider their works and performances their offspring and hope for the best in the contest."
