(VOVworld) - The 15th
Vietnam Poetry Day takes place in Hanoi on the 15th day of the first lunar
month of the New Year, which falls on February 11 this year. The 15th
Vietnam Poetry Day has attracted a great number of Vietnamese poets. VOV’s Bui
Hang reports.
A poet path opens for the first time at the festival,
introducing to public notable Vietnamese poets. Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Literature Association Nguyen Quang
Thieu said: “This year we want to feature the “Poet Path”
for the first time to introduce the portrait and works of the major poets of
Vietnam of the last 60 years. Poets of several generations have gathered here for
Poetry Day. On this occasion, we also honor poets who have made great contributions
to Vietnamese Poetry.”

The event aims to honor outstanding poets in 2016, including
those winning the association’s awards. Poet Huu Viet said: “This year a “Poet Path”
is to honor poets who have received awards from VietNam’s Military Literature
Magazine, poets who have won Vietnam Literature Association awards, and poets
who are new members of the Vietnam Literature Association. This is a great
opportunity for poets to present their work to poetry lovers.”
Apart from reciting poems and exchanging with poem lovers,
visitors could enjoy a poem music show. Young and senior poets get engaged in
the event in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Literature
Association. A special space is designed for children’s poet clubs.
A highlight of the festival is the performance of painting poems
on ceramic products by artist Le Thiet Cuong. Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu said: “Artist
Le Thiet Cuong presented cover illustrations he has done for poetry books and meaningful
poems to accompany the art work that he has designed. We have also built a “Poetry
Path” to give poetry lovers a closer look at the work and lives of VN’s poets.”
Meanwhile, the traditional poetry space has
given exchange opportunities for
groups of outstanding poets of different generations and authors winning awards
of the Vietnam Writers’ Association. Another space was
also be designed for poets from cities and provinces as
well as poet clubs nationwide to meet and introduce their works.
