(VOVWORLD) - Discipline and solidarity have long been associated with the core value of the mining sector. The essential traits have made it the culture of the mine region in Quang Ninh province.

The mining industry has always constituted one of the heaviest, most dangerous, and highest health risks. It is an industrial production sector, requiring a large number of employees.
Each stage, each section is an indispensable and important link. All the stages require discipline and solidarity, forcing workers to be extremely cautious and avoid mistakes. Coal miners must strictly follow safety rules, the set production process, and the boss’s orders. They are like soldiers on a battlefield.
Nguyen Van Nam, who works for the Thong Nhat Coal Company, says the culture of Vietnam's mining industry is the same as that of coal miners around the world.
“I’ve learned many lessons from my predecessors’ experience. Realizing the importance of discipline and solidarity, all the company’s workers, including me have tried to improve our professional knowledge and skills and apply advanced production technologies to further develop the company,” said Nam.

Humanity, which originates from the difficult and dangerous underground mining environment, is the most prominent characteristic of mining culture.
Dinh Van Hiep, another employee of the Thong Nhat Coal Company, is satisfied with what the company has given him.
According to Hiep, “The accommodations offered by the company are much better than living in a guesthouse. The housing is clean, airy, and comfortable after working in the mine.”
As most coal miners in Vietnam were once farmers and come from rural areas, the industry’s culture is strongly characterized by village culture. But mine workers have more opportunities to share experience, access advanced technologies, and profit from cultural exchanges with other countries.
The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Corporation (Vinacomin) has implemented a project to promote mining culture in the new era, equate coal miners with soldiers, and honor role models.
Dr. Nhac Phan Linh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Workers and Trade Union, said,
“The mining industry’s culture is a fundamental culture which merges the sector’s spirit and values with the theory of the working class and workers’ movement in history. The mining culture has greatly contributed to the national revolutionary cause. In the 4th Industrial Revolution, the sector’s discipline and solidarity can inspire other industries, and improve labor productivity for national development.”
