(VOVworld) – The 2012 Book and Reading Culture Festival opened at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on Saturday to mark World Book and Copyright Day. At the opening ceremony, publishing houses presented books for a representative of the program to join hands to develop new rural landscape. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Director of the Library Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, says 'The program on new rural development is a big policy of the Party and Government. Of the 19 criteria on a new rural landscape, 2 norms relate to the development of culture. People in the new rural areas are deprived of books, and newspapers. To date, we have received a donation of about 30 publishing houses and book stores nationwide with more than 60,000 copies'.
