40th anniversary of southern liberation, national reunification marked
(VOVworld) – A range of activities will take place across Vietnam to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification on April 30th. Organizers announced at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh city on Monday that the main celebration would include incense offering ceremonies at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Martyrs’ Monument in Hanoi and at the Ben Duoc Memorial Temple in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh city, prior to April 30th. Ho Chi Minh city will host a grand meeting and military parade on that day. The parade will demonstrate the five major directions to Saigon taken the southern liberation forces in the 1975 Spring Offensive. All activities will be attended by Vietnamese leaders, Vietnamese armed forces, ordinary people, the diplomatic corps, and foreign representatives.

Hua Ngoc Thuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, elaborates more activities: “Ho Chi Minh city plans to launch fireworks above a 68-storey building, the highest one in the city, and at other localities and former revolutionary bases.”
