Speaking at a meeting to mark the 75th day of the Vietnamese elderly, hosted by the Vietnam Association of the Elderly in Hanoi on Monday, Mr. Dam urged for the replication of effective models and movements to encourage more of the elderly to contribute to society: “There‘s an encouraging and thoughtful fact that the older citizens account for up to 70% of the total members of mass organizations. Policies are already in place and the question is how to make full use of their role. The elderly have a lot of work experience and prestige in society”.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said he hopes the Vietnam Association of the Elderly will become more active in helping to improve the living standards of their members. He called on the local administrations, business people and donors to work more closely with the association to uphold the role of the elderly.
