(VOV/VOVworld)- An exchange program to present gifts and donations to help fishermen in Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratley) archipelagos was held in Quang Ngai province on Saturday. The program showed the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor’s assistance for fishermen and navy soldiers in coping with natural disasters and risks. Dang Ngoc Tung, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor says: “The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will direct provincial labor confederations to assist fishermen who operate in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. The donation for the victims will be channeled through local trade unions and authorities”.

The Gold Heart Fund also presented gifts worth more than 430,000 USD to fishermen in Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan and Da Nang city. The organizer of the exchange program presented fishermen in the central regions nearly 650,000 USD.

The same day, Truong Sa island district in Khanh Hoa province began the construction of Truong Sa Primary School. The funding for the school was donated by enterprises, organizations and individuals inside and outside the country through the program “For beloved Truong Sa students” which is launched by Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund of the HCM Youth Union and HCM City’s Law newspaper.
