The Foreign Minister told the press following the conclusion of the APEC Summit on Sunday that delegates had agreed on measure to speed up regional trade liberalization, reliable supply chain and cooperation in tackling non-traditional security threats. During the Summit, President Truong Tan Sang had joined Japanese Prime Minister in their keynote speeches on food security and innovative growth. Sang and his Chilean counterpart chaired the meeting on water resources at the APEC Business Meeting. Vietnam made initiatives in promoting cooperation in natural disaster preparedness, maritime rescue and cooperation with the ASEAN. APEC members welcomed Vietnam’s hosting of the APEC meeting in 2017. President Sang had held talks with leaders from Russia, China, the US, the Philippines, and several other Asian countries. Vietnamese contribution to the Summit and its bilateral talks had strengthened the national development and its image in the world.
